Grand Slam season has started! The first Grand Slam that always kicks off the season is the Australian Open, a hardcourt tournament that makes a great start of the season. Now that Djokovic is officially ruled out, the tournament has opened a door for many players. In this blog, we’ll predict our winners for both the men and the women.

Men

As we just mentioned, top favourite Djokovic is officially ruled out, because of the Australian laws around COVID-19. This opens the doors for many players: will Medvedev continue his great form of the last season, or will we see top talent Zverev take his first tournament? There are a lot of great talents that could make up for a surprise too: Korda has proven to be a tough fight for anyone, or could Auger-Aliassime break into the quarter finals for the first time? Of course, there are also dark horses like Berrettini and Tsitsipas to take in count, who can both deal with anyone on a good day. We can’t make any predictions on who we think will win this years Australian Open. The only prediction we dare to make is that it will be a great watch all the way through!

Women

In 2021, the world was introduced to Raducanu, who convincingly won the US Open, not losing a single set. Her surprise win doesn’t make her top favourite for this years Australian Open, but we could see her getting incredibly far again. Top favourites of course are players such as Barty, Osaka and Swiatek, but we could definitely see some surprises in Muguruza and Badosa, or will top talent Tauson find her way to the top in her first Australian Open? Just like the men, we truly can’t tell who’ll perform and who won’t: the only way to find out is to watch and enjoy the tournament.

Predictions

The bookmakers say that Medvedev and Barty will be the big winners of this years Australian Open. Do you agree, or do you think we’ll have another surprising tournament, just like last years US Open? If you’re feeling very sure of your predictions, you could try to make some money on it in an online casino! To put this into perspective: Raducana winning the US Open was an odd of 499/1. Good luck trying to find the new Raducanu!
